Welcome marvelous May! We celebrate our Blessed Mother Mary this month. We have learned our prayers including the Hail Mary, Our Father, and Glory Be. Praying the Rosary is a wonderful way to practice our prayers and honor Mary. Letter review finds us using Play-doh, pasta, newspapers, markers, and crayons to make and find our alphabet letters. Measuring and symmetry are fun math concepts we are exploring. Using our shapes, Pre-K4 leaned how to fold them in half creating a line of symmetry. Pencils are a fun measuring tool as are our own personal rulers. We measured things in our home that are as long as a pencil. The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle is an exciting way to view a caterpillar on his journey to become a butterfly. Our class will watch our live caterpillars as they change into chrysalis and then become butterflies. Ladybugs in our ladybug land are changing into pupa and then ladybugs. Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt by Kate Messner introduced us to the growing season. We are able to watch the roots of our bean plants grow as we examine them in a see-thru container. Marigolds grow so quickly! Each one of the students watched their own marigold plant grow. Memorial Day will be here before we know it, and thankfully the warm weather too! As we bring our Pre-K4 year to a close, we will discover baby animals and learn about what they need to live. Summer fun is right around the corner!
